Hot. In. Here.

Boy, is it ever hot in here tonight.  Could we have some A/C or a fan, please.

Severe storm & tornado watches issued for our area.  We're ready to head downstairs if necessary.

What's This in My Tree?

I was outside minding my own business very early this morning when suddenly there was a lot of chittering, fussy noise way up in my elm tree.

It was this!

I had never seen anything like it before, so I assessed the situation for awhile.

 I got closer and watched.

Then, quick as the cat that I am, I was up the tree (a little ways)

Well, I didn't catch the varmint.  After a long stand-off, the squirrel went back to wherever it came from.  Mom called me to come inside and catch a couple of big flies.  So I did that - ate 'em, too.

Now I am doing this.  Sulking a bit about that squirrel, but mostly catching a nap after a busy morning.

I'll catch it next time, I just know I will.

So Proud.....

If Uncle Gene & Auntie Carol could see me now, they would be proud...I just know it.  I was at their place in Tucson the first time I was put on a leash.  Errr, I got tangled up in a chair, it made loud noises and I went a little nuts.  That's all in the past.

Here I am in our garden.

Catnip grows here

The neighbours just let their stupid dogs out

I'm going to go over and stare at them.   Drives 'em nuts.  They start to bark, get yelled at and put back inside.  Ha.

Mom's favourite rose.  It's called Prairie Sunrise or maybe it is Prairie Sunset.  It is pretty this morning.  I have been told not to get my leash caught up in it so that the petals tear off - seems that is something She doesn't like!

Have a very nice day!

New Morning Routine

And by 'morning' I mean about 4:30 a.m.

I have found that if I run into mom's bedroom, across her bed and up onto the bureau to look out the window for a little while...then, abruptly jump down onto the bed (usually hitting one of her body parts), run out of the room....and repeat this a few times.....well heck, she gets up all ready to play with me.  Well, that last part, eh, maybe not so much.  She gets up.

What has happened the last couple mornings is that she puts my red harness on me and I get to go outside!

The grass is wet this morning.  I like wet grass and mud.  That's an added-extra 'cuz when I do come back in, she blow dries me - and I just love that.

One of the things I like to do outside is run up this tree.  I wait until mom is watching - she's afraid I'm going to get all the way into the leafy part and get my leash wound around a limb...on and on she goes about it...natter, natter, natter....but I just go this high and jump down.

Later, I sat in the catnip for a while, surveying my property.

and I just chased a cat out of the yard (darn tether only lets me go so far!).

From Ailyn

We'll get to poor, lonely Freddie... left all alone... almost forever... pretty soon, but first, we got a Thank You card from Ailyn in Vancouver!

There are lots of cats (she has two kittehs) and a whole bunch of really cool stuff.  Bright, sunny and happy!  Love it.

It is the "Best" bit of artwork I've ever received!

Thanks, Ailyn.  I like You, too.
